Fear sneaks up on Gloria... from within.
Sound design & mix
We had many ideas in terms of locations for the film, but ultimately we decided to opt for a “familiar” setting. A place the audience could somehow relate to.
95% of the short film was shot on a tripod. We locked the camera to allow the audience to witness, almost document, the symptoms of anxiety when they manifest as a panic attack. We didn't want the camera to interfere or "steer" emotions. The only moving shots we used were a simulated forward dolly and a slow pan for the final reveal.
For the filming we used a Sony a7s II, a Metabones EF-E MK V adapter, Canon lenses (24-70 f/2.8, 24-105 f/4 and a 50mm f/1.8) and a SmallHD Focus monitor. Audio was recorded on location with an NTG4+, a WSVM filter, an SM4-R shock mount and a Zoom H5 recorder. The audio for the BTS was recorded with a VideoMic Pro and a RODELink Filmmaker Kit. The film was edited and graded in Premiere Pro. Audio was mixed with Cubase and music was composed with Logic Pro X.
