QWhat role will the winner have in the RØDE video team?
The exact duties and position will depend on the skills and experience of the winner, but could be expected to include video pre-production, assistant camera operator or camera operator, sound recordist, boom operator, editor or editor’s assistant, archivist, file manager, set runner, location scout, researcher, artist liaison as well as other tasks related to the function of RØDE’s Production Team. Basically you will be one of the crew, doing all the things that have to happen to create the awesome video content we produce every day!

QWill the winner need to organise their own accommodation and transport?
RØDE will cover all living expenses, including flights, accommodation, food, transport, medical insurance and reasonable spending money. This will be organised between RØDE and the winner, once the winner has been announced.
QWhat if I'm not eligible to live / work in Australia?
If the winner does not have eligibility to live and work in Australia, RØDE will assist the winner in applying for an appropriate Australian working visa, including any necessary nomination. There are a number of different visa types that may apply, but note that they have different eligibility requirements and maximum stay periods. This means that the actual period the winner is a part of the RØDE team in Australia may be less than 12 months, as determined by the visa type they are eligible for. Note that some of the visa types have restrictions on age (typically under 30 years old), or country of origin.
If the winner does not qualify for any of the Australian visa types that would allow them to work in Australia as part of the RØDE team, that aspect of the prize will be forfeited. RØDE may, at its discretion, offer this prize to the second placed winner in the category, and so on further down the list.
QIs the position paid?
The position may be paid or unpaid, depending on visa type, although in all cases RØDE will cover all living expenses, including accommodation, food, transport, medical insurance and reasonable spending money. The winner will be responsible for all legal and tax liabilities that may arise as a result of them accepting the prize.
QHow long does the winner get to work at RØDE?
The winner of the My RØDE Reel Pitch category will be offered the opportunity to work as a member of the RØDE in-house video production crew for up to 12 months. The position will be full time, with normal work hours 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. There may be some requirements to work in the evening or at weekends as specific projects demand. If the winner is unable to work for the full 12 months due to existing commitments or visa restrictions, a shorter length of time will be agreed upon between RØDE and the Winner, but must be a minimum of three months.
QWhat can I expect working at RØDE?
As part of the RØDE Production Crew, you'll be involved in the production of promotional and internal video content. Depending on your skills, abilities and interests, you may be involved in pre/post-production, camera operating, sound recording, editing, archiving, location scouting, research and so on.
At RØDE we work hard and play hard. We also have the following facilities available on-campus: Duck River Gym, putt-putt, basketball and beer o'clock every Friday at 4pm!
QWhen will The Pitch prize be announced?
The Pitch prize announcement will be made shortly after the end of My RØDE Reel, once the RØDE team has reviewed all applications and determined a winner based on availability, visa eligibility etc.
