The project was filmed at an overlook in the state of Washington called Horsethief Butte, which is within the Columbia Hills State Park. We departed Portland around 6pm, to wait for sunset to start filming. Since the short is set in the early morning, we filmed our scenes in reverse. The final shots were competed first, and as the night progessed, we shot the earlier scenes. Our sound recordist used his own RØDE equipment, which included the NTG-3 and lavaliers, among other support items. Our DP shot exclusively on a Sony mirrorless camera, and served as the colorist as well. The short went mostly as planned, although we wrapped about 2.5 hours later than I anticipated.
