a short documentary film about Tommy Petersen, - a 15 year old train enthusiast, executive director of his own railroad museum, and a volunteer and employee at a trolley museum - and his sense of connection to his family and to the past through his love of the railroad.
Behind the scenes of a piece of history
Filmed at the National Capital Trolley Museum, The Spike Railroad Museum, and the Montgomery County Fair Grounds in Gaithersburg MD.
Filmed on the Canon C100 mark ii, Canon 16-35mm 2.8L mark ii, Canon 24-70mm 2.8L, Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 18-135mm STM. I used the RØDE NTG2 and the RØDEFilmmaker kit for the film and the NT1 for the BTS. Filmed mostly handheld (Zacuto Target Shooter) but also used a Sirui carbon fiber monopod, Libec T77 with H60 head, and Zacuto next gen recoil for Canon C100 mark ii with the Gratical HD (amazing viewfinder).
Filmed in canon log and recorded 8 bit 422 color in ProRes HD recording using the Atomos Ninja 2. Edited in Premiere Pro and very basic color grade using Lumetri LUTS.
I used Muse Storybuilder to help strengthen the narrative.
