MEMYCARANDI features Michelin star chef Andreas Tuffentsammer and his 1986 Volkswagen Passat. He was only 25 when he got the star in 2011 - every chef's dream. But he gave that up to be free to experiment on his own conditions.
MEMYCARANDI springs from the idea that there is something mystical about people's emotional relationship to their cars. It tells a lot about the protagonist, granting a new angle on their personality, independently from the work they are known for.
Behind the scenes of Memycarandi
The images that I'm looking for in MEMYCARANDI and the degree of intimacy with the protagonist that they request demand a small production team and handy-sized equipment. The DoP need to be able to move freely in the small space that is the inside of the car. That's why we work with the Sony Alpha 7s plus the Rode Videomic Go and the RodeLink Wireless Filmmaker Kit. For the images it gives us all of the flexibility, the cinematic look and workflow - shooting in S-log 2 to be able to apply LUTs in the grading process. For sound it gives us the agility, quality, and spontaneity that we need to work quickly and precisely.
