FAQS
Q.How long should my podcast be?
A.Your entry to My RØDE Cast must be between 1 and 2 minutes long.
Q.What should my podcast be about?
A.It can be about anything! It could be a short extract from a longer podcast you already do, it could be a short audio essay, it could be an interview with a guest, a comedy bit – or a combination of all the above! Just use your creative verve to come up with an impressive podcast that will wow our judges and your listeners.
Q.What language should my entry be in?
A.Unfortunately, we can only accept entries in English. Yeah, it’s not ideal, and we looked at all kinds of ways to make this a multi-lingual competition but couldn’t find a workable way. For instance, how could we find judges that could compare a podcast in Chinese with one in Latvian? Or how do we moderate all the entries as they come in? We’re a pretty diverse bunch here at RØDE, and have offices all over the world, but this one just had us stumped. So, with much regret, we had to make My RØDE Cast English only. For now.For now? Yup. For this inaugural competition, we’ve had to restrict it to English language. But we’re planning a series of regional My RØDE Cast competitions later in 2019 in other languages. So stay tuned, and hopefully we’ll be able to bring you a competition in your language soon.Meanwhile, if you do make an entry that’s not in your native language, don’t worry our judges won’t penalise you for language errors or accent. Have a go!
Q.What am I being judged on?
A.Our judges will be looking for originality and creativity; for an interesting and compelling podcast that leaves them wanting more. They will also be looking at the production quality – how clean the sound is, use of music or sound effects, good editing.
A.By creating an outstanding short podcast that our judges love! There are three prizes – two awarded by the judges, and one People's Choice prize to the podcast with the most votes from listeners - so don't forget to ask your friends to vote too!
Q.How does voting work?
A.Once your podcast has been moderated, it will be published to our podcast channel, and also appear on a page on this website. Get your friends to head over to your entry on myrodecast.com and vote for it. The podcast with the most votes will win the People's Choice prize.
Q.Where will my podcast be published?
