Best Day In Life

Gianni Jahziel James

Best Day In Life is a film study seeking to explore love through foot movement. There are so many things that can be learnt about a person through studying their foot movement. It's interesting to see what studying foot movement can tell us about a person; how they feel, their aims/aspirations and future actions.

Behind the scenes of Best Day In Life

Best Day in Life was shot over the course of two days. Most of day one and two were used filming different foot movement using a tripod for the locked down shots and handheld for the waling shots.
The concept behind the cinematic style was to give insight into the mind of the main character. The handheld shots show moments he feels he is in more full control of his life as opposed to the steady shots where he feels are more uncontrollable. Conversely, the handheld shots are more shaky (unbalanced) versus the steady shots which rise a new dynamic where he feels he is in control of his life but it is more unbalanced. As he gets closer to love, the two cinematographic styles come closer and closer.

The Locations used were a public park, hotel balcony and various roads.

Equipment used were the Nikon D7000, 50mm 1.8, 18-55mm 3.5 an the Røde SmartLav+.
