We wrote and shot our short film "Nick is the Bees Knees," over the course of 9 hours. We wrote around the location we had available to us and actors that we had; our goal was keep the script and shot list as simple as possible.

For visuals, we used a Panasonic GH2 (Hacked w/ Aquamotion) and an SLR Magic Cine 12mm 1.6 Lens. Our little camera rig sat on top of a TurboAce AllSteady 6 Gimbal, accompanied by a SmallHD DP6 monitor.

Audio was covered by a Rode VideoMic Pro sporting the Deadcat as its windbreaker, resting on a Rode Boompole secured by Rode Boompole clips. A Zoom H4N took in all the audio.

Our intention was to shoot "Nick is the Bees Knees" in a series of short-long-shots. With the script written to 4 pages, we knew we were a minute over our maximum time limit. When it came down to editing, our film was 8 minutes long; due to our cinematic long shots.

Needless to say, the story had to be warped to some degree, and nearly all of our long shots had to be cut out. My heart broke a little bit, but Diego and I were satisfied with the product we were able to put together in the short and constrained time period we set for ourselves.
